When a high-tech family of cryptozoologists rolls into Duck Creek Village with a 1930s film map and dreams of capturing a legend, Maya and Leo find themselves drafted as guides into the rugged back-country of the Dixie National Forest. Maya, ever the practical scientist, is skeptical of the giant tracks appearing in the volcanic ash, while Leo is just looking for the ultimate shot for his “Duck Creek Vibes” channel.

But the mountain has a way of changing your perspective.

After a visit to the DC Pub & Grill and a run-in with the mysterious “Mega Squatch Burger,” Maya and Leo discover their senses have been dialed to a primal frequency. Suddenly, the forest is no longer silent. They can hear the heartbeat of the woods, smell the approach of distant storms, and sense a rhythmic thumping deep within the earth that doesn’t sound like any animal known to man.

As “Bigfoot Fever” grips the village, Maya and Leo realize that something very real—and very dangerous—is hiding in the shadows of the lava tubes. Between “phantom” tremors, high-speed night chases, and a secret buried beneath the basalt, they must use their heightened instincts to protect the mountain from a modern-day threat.
